Pippy Oak & Humming Birds

This unique piece of amazing pippy oak is truly a one-off.
The delicate humming birds hover over the ‘flower formations’ in the wood’s natural pattern. Set with iridescent and goldfish glass to represent the magnificent shimmering feathers of these tiny beautiful birds.
The pippy effect is formed due to the open nature of our woodlands, hedgerows and parks allowing easy light penetration which encourages 'epicormic growth' of buds on the main trunks of the trees. These growths penetrate deep into the heart wood of the tree, and when cut they appear as 'cat's paws' or patches of burr on the board.
